“My son Jay, an eight-year-old, has been attending Starlight for a year now. Jay has KBG Syndrome and ADHD, with that comes a lot of his anxiety. Every time we have therapy at Starlight, I am amazed at his progress. The staff and horses create the most calm and safe environment for him. He rides comfortable and seems so content during his sessions. Recently he completed another session and while at school, discussing his feelings, he said he’s sad because he’s having to take a break from being at Starlight. I knew how much being there helped him, but I didn’t realize how much HE loved being there too. We can’t wait for our next session at Starlight!”

"Joe was diagnosed with PANS in 2021 which caused him to lose most of his motor functions. When Joe met 'his' horse Whitey, they had an instant connection. Whitey seemed very drawn to Joe, and I believe that gave him all the confidence he needed to get on. During the car ride home Joe smiled the entire time. It was the first smile we had seen in almost a year.
Joe has lost most of his connections with people, but his connection with Whitey has improved his life. We are extremely grateful for Starlight’s patience, love, understanding and dedication to children like our son. The physical aspect of the riding is one thing, but the love Starlight has is on a higher level."

As Mason has progressed through the program, I have seen firsthand the mental health benefits of therapeutic horsemanship. It is my hope that one day all children living with disabilities will have access to the necessary services.
Starlight's commitment and dedication to the children and families they serve is greatly appreciated. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of Starlight Therapeutic Riding Center.

Starlight's environment puts a smile on your face and a smile in your heart. It feeds your heart and soul to see the looks on the kid's faces when they show up for their class. The pure joy of the kids is contagious!

"Nimbus is the most beautiful horse in the world. He's strong, and he's kind, and he has only one eye. But that doesn't matter. He doesn't need two eyes. He's still a good horse."

“From day one, I could see an overall improvement in Avery's self-confidence and motivation – basically, the horses helped her find her purpose again.”
